Clean-energy expert to speak at breakfast
Sabicer led initiative in Ventura, SB, LA counties
Amanda Sabicer, senior adviser of market transformation for Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, will discuss the future of sustainable energy.
(VENTURA, Calif. – Feb. 25, 2019) A Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) executive who oversaw a four-county energy innovation initiative will speak at the next California Lutheran University Corporate Leaders Breakfast.
Amanda Sabicer, senior adviser of market transformation for LACI, will discuss the future of sustainable energy from 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, March 8, at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach Hotel. Breakfast and networking will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Sabicer will talk about the need for building an inclusive green economy where everyone participates and benefits. As the energy sector evolves, the lines between traditional industries is blurring, creating new business models and opportunities. Sabicer asserts that new technologies alone will not solve the energy crisis.
In her current role at LACI, Sabicer is helping LA’s regional transportation infrastructure transition to zero emissions by 2028. The nonprofit, public-private partnership helps companies deliver market-ready cleantech products.
Sabicer previously served LACI as vice president for Energize California, a $5 million initiative funded by the California Energy Commission to drive clean-energy innovation through entrepreneurship. She supported entrepreneurs throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties in order to accelerate commercialization of their products. Sabicer, a board member of Los Angeles Social Venture Partners for nearly 10 years, connected entrepreneurs with researchers and mentors and helped them access services needed to bring new technologies to market in her role with Energize California. The initiative’s partners include the Santa Barbara-based Community Environmental Council, Los Angeles Economic Development Corp. and California State University, Channel Islands.
Before joining LACI as vice president of development in 2014, Sabicer worked for Amgen’s Oncology Sales and Marketing Department, where she was named Rookie of the Year for the Western Region. She holds an MBA in marketing from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Sabicer spent her early career helping low-income people overcome employment barriers and obtain living-wage jobs through workforce development in New York.
The Corporate Leaders Breakfast Series brings members of the business and civic communities together to hear from prominent leaders. The 2018-2019 series will conclude May 7 with a presentation at Cal Lutheran by Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Jeff Gorell on securing L.A. during the Olympics.
