Cal Lutheran is proud to host the inaugural Middle Eastern Film and TV Summit. Visiting entertainment industry professionals will discuss the role cinema and television play in the representation of Middle Easterners, the challenges of the community to overcome barriers, and the historical representation of the Middle Eastern mass media. The event will include food, networking opportunities and audience Q&A.

We will be having a live student band to open, traditional Hawaiian luau foods served from 6pm-7pm, student hula performances, amazing raffle prizes from Hawai’i (featuring prizes from ALOHA Collection, Clark Little, Crazy Shirts, etc), and a special guest performance at 8pm from a professional band flying from Hawai’i (Natural Vibrations). Our food and seating is first come first serve.

This year, our theme is storytelling about all of the Hawaiian Islands, while spotlighting our beloved Maui after the Lahaina fires last fall. Come join us as we teach you a little more about the islands of Hawai’i through our program. This event is open to CLU students, faculty, and the public!

Join the Center for Global Engagement in the celebration of Earth Day on Friday. Visit the various Earth sustainability focused tables hosted by CLU clubs as well as community organizations. You have the option to purchase Fair Trade items from Ascension Lutheran Church's Fair Trade Lane pop up (e.g., coffee, tea, nuts, etc.) and hand-crated items from Tlalipani (tapestries, chocolates, etc.).

Three undergraduates will present their Global Studies capstone projects and discuss how their experiences studying abroad shaped them. Two students participated in the CLU-Oxford Program in Fall 2024 and one is an international student.

The Asian American and Pacific Islander Film and TV Panel will feature valuable information from inspiring speakers and professionals in the entertainment industry. Attendees will enjoy food and networking, can interact with professionals in the industry and hear about stories, challenges and opportunities of the AAPI community in the entertainment field.

Panelist:  Chris Tashima, actor and director; Ada Yeh, former VP and head of Human Resources at Warner Bros.  

 

 

CCEI Send Off

Beginning with a ceremony and with a reception to immediately follow, the Sendoff celebration honors BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color), LGBTQ+, international students and study abroad alumni on their graduation from Cal Lutheran. The program, hosted by the Center for Cultural Engagement and Inclusion with support from the Center for Global Engagement, includes recognition for graduating students as well as performances (e.g., music, dance, drums). Participating students are eligible to receive a stole from CCEI.
