BRIDGE

BRIDGEWe live in a country where we confront more difference in religions, while at the same time, society is becoming less religious. Religion, secularism, race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender politics, and science intersect in unpredictable ways, yet not everyone responds with positive regard.

What is BRIDGE?

BRIDGE (Building Regular Interfaith Dialogue through Generous Engagement) trainings equip attendees to wrestle with these complex questions and conversations.

The goals of BRIDGE are:

  • To educate on proper terminology to use when referring to religious and non-religious identities.
  • To allow Cal Lutheran members to recognize and intercept religious biases.
  • To build bridges across lines of differences on our campus.

Who should attend BRIDGE?

Anyone who wants to work towards ending oppression and discrimination through support and advocacy.

How do attendees benefit from BRIDGE?

  • Educate yourself and others about privileges and biases.
  • Stay committed and active in creating equality.
  • Act as a “safe person” for members of underrepresented groups.
  • Create and promote inclusive and welcoming environments.
  • Work to confront negative attitudes and unequal treatment of people based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, sex, race, class, ability, age, spirituality, and other personal and cultural characteristics.
  • Model self-awareness in behaviors and attitudes.
