About OURCS

The mission of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship is to facilitate a campus culture in which mentored undergraduate research and creative scholarship can thrive and to provide programs and activities that support and celebrate scholarly activities by students across all disciplines.

What We Do

OURCS is an advocate for and source of information about undergraduate research and creative scholarship for the entire campus community. We also achieve our mission by coordinating new grant programs, publicizing new opportunities, celebrating achievements and fostering community through hosting on-campus symposia, discussion groups and workshops.

Our History

OURCS was developed in 2008. Initially known as the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), the phrase "creative scholarship" was added in 2012 to clearly communicate our mission to support all disciplines.

The formation and support of OURCS is one of the 12 priority items designated by the President's Cabinet.

Our Responsibilities

Our responsibilities include identifying opportunities for student research and creative scholarship and securing extramural funding to support these activities.

We manage the Student Research Symposium and aid in the management of other student-centered academic conferences held at Cal Lutheran, such as Festival of Scholars. We also assist with presentation preparation and facilitate adherence to the research policies.
