Founders Day Convocation

Founders Day Convocation

Each fall, the Cal Lutheran community, alumni and friends gather to celebrate the founding of the university and marks the occasion with a festive convocation.

We celebrate the educational commitment of the university to equip graduates who are called and empowered to serve their neighbors so that all may flourish. The program includes installing the Board of Regents, commissioning the Convocation and recognizing the recipients of the Christus Award. The Convocation speaker is the Rev. Jeff R. Johnson, bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Sierra Pacific Synod.

The Christus Award is given annually to individuals in recognition of their contributions to strengthening the bridge between the church and the university or who have made significant contributions to higher education in the ELCA.

Admission is free. The Founders Day Convocation also will be livestreamed at CalLutheran.edu/live.
