Orvil and Gloria Franzen Organ Recital: Ian Pritchard
The Orvil and Gloria Franzen Organ Recital Series presents "An Early Music Afternoon" featuring internationally acclaimed harpsichordist, organist and musicologist Ian Pritchard. Specializing in historical keyboard practices and early music, Pritchard brings a vibrant program of Renaissance and Baroque works to life on period instruments.
Pritchard has performed extensively as a continuo player and soloist with esteemed ensembles including the Academy of Ancient Music, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Florilegium. His collaborations have included such noted artists as Monica Huggett, Elizabeth Blumenstock and Rachel Podger.
He studied at Oberlin Conservatory, the Royal Academy of Music in London and completed a Fulbright in Italy researching early Italian keyboard music. He holds a PhD in musicology from the University of Southern California and currently serves on the faculty of the Colburn School Conservatory of Music.
Known for his depth of scholarship and expressive performance style, Pritchard offers audiences a richly informed and captivating experience of early music.
