About this event

Community organizations need three kinds of resources to grow and succeed: time, money, and the leadership to use both wisely. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to find new volunteers and develop them into a team of committed leaders. Topics include:

  • Identifying and filling the holes in your leadership team
  • Member and volunteer recruitment
  • Motivating and managing volunteers (and easing out the ineffective ones)
  • Top tips for effective volunteer-based groups

 Learning outcomes – Participants will learn how to:

  • Think more holistically and pragmatically about volunteer recruitment
  • Develop a model for increasing volunteer commitment and leadership over time
  • Create a menu of volunteer opportunities
  • Design and facilitate more effective meetings

Audience: Nonprofit staff who recruit and engage volunteers; nonprofit event planners; board leaders, members and committee chairs; consultants and other capacity builders.

Andy Robinson

Andy Robinson (www.andyrobinsononline.com) provides training and consulting for nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. Over the past 28 years, Andy has worked with clients in 47 US states and across Canada.

Since pandemic began in March 2020, he has designed and facilitated more than 175 online meetings, webinars, and remote workshops covering a variety of topics, including fundraising, board development, marketing, leadership development, facilitation, planning, change management, and train-the-trainer programs.

Andy is the author of six books, including Train Your Board (and Everyone Else) to Raise Money, www.trainyourboard.com. His latest is What Every Board Member Needs to Know, Do, and Avoid. He lives in Plainfield, Vermont.
