Baccalaureate: An Interfaith Service of Blessing for All Graduates

At Baccalaureate we celebrate the crowning achievements of all Cal Lutheran graduates!
The word “baccalaureate” is composed of two Latin words, “bacca” or berry and “laureus” or laurel. Throughout history, these two plants have been used to create crowns of victory to celebrate great achievements. Class of 2025 and winter 2024, it’s your turn to celebrate your achievements!
Graduates from all academic programs across all religious and non-religious identities are invited to Samuelson Chapel to participate in the University’s Baccalaureate: an Interfaith Service of Blessing for All Graduates on Thursday, May 15, at 4:30. Cal Lutheran’s Choir will sing; graduating students will offer messages of gratitude and hope; and faith leaders from multiple traditions will share words of blessing and encouragement.
All graduates from all programs are welcome to process in regalia from the Enormous Luther statue (Gumby). Line up at 4:15 after Gumby Grad Fest.
Families, friends, and the University community are also welcome.
Reception immediately following on the Chapel Patio featuring California Lutheran University’s Mariachi Ensemble! All Are Welcome!
This event is part of the Commencement Celebration series.
