About
Atlal is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department. Before joining CLU, Atlal served as Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Lebanese International University for five years.
She completed her Ph.D. as joint work from the University of California, Riverside and the American University of Beirut in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. Her Masters is in Computer and Information Science and her Bachelors is in Electrical and Computer Engineering, both from the University of Michigan.
Atlal has several publications and conferences in the bio-computing interdisciplinary research area. Among them, a few are published in Nature Scientific Reports journal and EMBC (Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society) conference.
Before devoting her time to academics and research, Atlal was a full time technology consultant and systems analyst at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and PricewaterhouseCoopers for almost 6 years, working at different client sites, including and not limited to Dow Chemicals, Alltel, and Compaq.
In addition to being a University Professor, Atlal’s interests include traveling and discovering new cultures. She enjoys teaching Special Needs students and provide support to disadvantaged and underrepresented kids, because the act of giving bestows on her a sense of contentment and achievement.
