Presidential Scholar Finalists Visit CLU, Compete for Full Tuition Funding

Among 75 finalists are four international students from Asia and Central America

California Lutheran University will host 75 top applicants for the Presidential Scholarship Program on Monday, March 1. The program, which was established by the University to recognize and reward graduating high school seniors of outstanding academic caliber, provides scholarships ranging from $8,600 to full tuition for four years.

Along with competing for two full tuition scholarships, the finalists will meet with administrators, faculty and current students to learn more about the University between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The finalists will be traveling to campus from throughout the United States as well as from Katmandu, San Salvador, Guatemala and Vietnam.

Applicants participating in the Presidential Scholar competition have an average grade point average of 4.26, average SAT scores of 1280 and average ACT scores of 29.

CLU is a selective liberal arts university located in Thousand Oaks, Calif., midway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. With an enrollment of 2,900 students, CLU offers 36 undergraduate majors, six graduate programs and a doctoral program within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Education. Members of the CLU student body come from more than 30 states and 30 countries and represent a diversity of faiths and cultures.
