CLU University Relations Director Announces Retirement

After nearly two decades of service to California Lutheran University, Carol Keochekian, Senior Director of University Relations, has announced plans to retire at the end of March.

Since 1992, Carol has directed public relations activities for the University. As a major “face” and “voice” for CLU in the community, she has spoken eloquently on behalf of the University at numerous public events and gatherings and has orchestrated community relations for the successful passage of the Campus Master Plan and the Master Plan Modification. Carol serves as the liaison with the CLU Community Leaders Association and oversees numerous publications including the award–winning CLU Magazine.

Before joining the staff at CLU, she served as Director of Public Relations for Pleasant Valley Health Services in Camarillo. Carol served as Director of Adult Education Services and Director of Women’s Programs during her first tenure at CLU where she also earned her bachelor’s degree. Among the many programs she initiated for the community is “Creative Options: A Day for Women,” which just celebrated its 25th year on campus.

As 40–year residents of Thousand Oaks, Carol and her husband Sark, a retired Thousand Oaks High School teacher, are active in the Conejo Valley community where they raised their four children. A two–time Woman of the Year, Carol’s volunteer activities and community leadership roles span four decades and include service to the Thousand Oaks Library Foundation, the Conejo Valley Historical Society and the Conejo Futures Foundation.
