CLU Now Offers Evening B.A. Degree Program in Liberal Studies

THOUSAND OAKS, CA (July 1, 2005) –– Beginning this fall, students may earn a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies in the accelerated Adult Degree Evening Program (ADEP) at California Lutheran University.

The Liberal Studies Evening Program is designed to meet the needs of students who want to continue working while completing a bachelor’s degree. The multidisciplinary liberal studies curriculum prepares students to enter a teacher preparation program.

Some of the course work may also be applied toward the requirements for a teaching credential. Upon graduation (with a minimum 2.7 GPA), prospective teachers in the program will be eligible to apply to enter CLU’s well–regarded Teacher Preparation Program (TPP).

This interdisciplinary major with an emphasis in education is an expansion of the evening program which currently offers majors in business and computer science. The liberal studies major requires some fieldwork in an educational setting. However, if a student is not interested in pursuing a teaching credential, fieldwork may be satisfied through alternate arrangements.

ADEP classes are scheduled year round. Four eleven–week terms enable students to accelerate their progress toward a degree without compromising traditional standards of quality. Classes are offered at the main CLU campus in Thousand Oaks and typically meet one night per week (6–9:30 p.m.). The fall term begins Aug. 29.
