CLU Student Receives Prestigious Goldwater Scholarship

Camarillo resident is biochemistry and molecular biology major

Michael Alberti, a junior majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology at California Lutheran University, recently received a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship in recognition of his outstanding work in the fields of math and science.

A resident of Camarillo, Alberti competed against more than 1,100 college students from throughout the United States for the prestigious scholarship which provides tuition, fees, books and room and board for up to $7,500 per year. Alberti, only the third recipient ever from CLU, was one of 310 recipients majoring in math, science and engineering selected nationwide.

The Goldwater Foundation, established in 1986, is a federally endowed agency. The scholarship program honoring former U.S. Senator Barry M. Goldwater was designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. Virtually all of the Goldwater Scholars intend to obtain a Ph.D.
