School of Education Presents Action Research Forum

Ernest Stringer, Ph.D., senior lecturer at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies at Curtin University of Technology in Australia, will speak on “Best Practices and Practitioner Research: Improving Professional Practices of Teachers, Administrators and Counselors” on Thursday evening, April 22, in the Nelson Room. An opening reception will be held from 5:30–6 p.m., followed by the speaker forum from 6–7, and a question and answer period from 7–7:30.

Dr. Stringer, who also serves as a visiting professor in the College of Education at the University of New Mexico, has been engaged in action research since the early 1980s. Action research has been used to assist educators in making effective links with parents and other community groups. Educators from preschool to university graduate classes successfully apply the action research processes to enhance their educational practices or to find solutions to significant problems.

An eminent scholar of action research, Stringer is sensitive to the need for people to conceptualize and understand issues in terms that make sense in their everyday lives. In school settings, he assists educators and families in improving their educational practices or in evaluating, planning or implementing educational programs and services.

Admission is free. To register for the forum, please contact Linda Nausin at x3422 or e–mail lnausin@clunet.edu.
