Cal Lutheran University Welcomes 10 New Faculty Members

College of Arts and Sciences
Rekha Bhowmik, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Computer Science
Dr. Bhowmik earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology. Her major interests and areas of expertise are in database development, data mining, data warehouses and computer graphics.

Jim Bond, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, English
Bond earned his undergraduate degree at Ball State University and completed his Ph.D. at Indiana University where he was the recipient of the William Riley Parker Teaching Award. Combining his experience in teaching writing, American periodicals and publishing history, he has been recognized for his knowledge of the Vietnam War in literature.

Area Kramarsky
Instructor, Communication Arts
With a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a master’s from the Annenberg School at USC, Kramarsky has studied at the Institute for Survey Research at the University of Michigan and served as a Freedom Forum Fellow at Columbia University. Along with her scholarly work, she has served as program director at the Center for Governmental Studies, a Los Angeles–based think tank, and was vice president of Grassroots Enterprise, an Internet public affairs firm in San Francisco.

Marja Mogk, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, English
Mogk earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Mogk’s areas of expertise include disability studies, classical literature, contemporary Native American literature, African–American literature and dramatic writing.

Mindy Puopolo, Psy.D.
Assistant Professor, Psychology
A licensed clinical psychologist, Puopolo has extensive teaching experience at California State University, Northridge and in 2003 won the Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award from students with disabilities. She earned her bachelor’s at Plymouth State College, her master’s at Notre Dame College and her Psy.D. at Pepperdine.

Magdalena Teichmann, Ph.D.
Senior Lecturer, Spanish
For the past 19 years, Dr. Teichmann has taught Spanish at CLU as an adjunct faculty member. This year, she will join the faculty as a full–time senior lecturer. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from UCLA. Teichmann has traveled and studied extensively and brings a wealth of cultural and linguistic knowledge to the Spanish Department.

Sandra K. Grunewald
Senior Lecturer, Accounting
A licensed CPA and partner in a local CPA firm, Grunewald has served as an adjunct instructor at CLU in the day and evening undergraduate programs. She earned her undergraduate degree at Augsburg College in Minnesota and her MBA at CLU.

Bonnie L. Johnson
Senior Lecturer, Finance
Johnson completed her undergraduate studies in accounting at California State University, Fullerton. A financial executive with 10 years of experience in California companies, Johnson received an MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University where she is currently pursuing her doctorate in economics.

Randall B. Lindsey, Ph.D.
Interim Dean, School of Education
An active member of the educational community as a professor, consultant and administrator for more than 30 years, Dr. Lindsey has served as Chair of the Department of Education at Redlands and most recently has held a distinguished Educator chair in the Graduate School of Education at Pepperdine. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, his master’s from the University of Illinois and his doctoral degree from Georgia State University.

Janice Tucker
Instructor, Instructional Leadership
With more than 15 years of leadership experience in K–12 educational settings, Tucker will teach in the instructional leadership area in the School of Education. She earned her undergraduate degrees at Memorial University in Newfoundland, and her master’s in education at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is completing her doctoral studies at Indiana University.
