CLU Prepares for Inaugural Cohort of New Ed.D. Program

Focus of the newest doctoral program is on higher education leadership

(THOUSAND OAKS, CA – November 2006) – California Lutheran University’s School of Education invites interested candidates to learn more about the new Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership program.

The Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership is designed to serve educational professionals who have a desire to become more effective in leading institutions of higher education and who wish to position themselves for heightened leadership roles.

The format of the program is designed with the working professional in mind, with class sessions held only three weekends each semester and supplemented with Web-based technology. The summer sessions are devoted entirely to completing the dissertation process within the four years of the program.

Students will come from many types of institutions and will be fully employed in such professional service areas as student affairs, academic leadership, athletic administration, institutional advancement, or institutional assessment. The program will first and foremost prepare ethical and principled leaders for higher education.

The Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership is the second doctoral program launched through CLU’s School of Education. The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership was introduced in the fall of 2003, with the first cohort of 13 candidates graduating last May.
