THOUSAND OAKS, CA -- California Lutheran University will dedicate its newly completed 308-seat Ullman Baseball Stadium on Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. The event coincides with Alumni Baseball Day when alumni of all ages return to play the game against each other, coaches and members of the Kingsmen Baseball squad.

The "Old Timers" game is set to follow the dedication, and the younger alumni will take on the current Kingsmen team at 2 p.m. The Ullman family, for whom the $2 million stadium is named, will also be in attendance for the ceremonies. Members of the community are invited to join CLU in celebrating the newest addition to its new athletic complex.

Corky Ullman (Class of 1976) and Steve Ullman (Class of 1977) have been long-time supporters of the CLU baseball program, having grown up with CLU baseball coach Marty Slimak. The Ullman family has been supporting academic and athletic programs at CLU since 1987 when the Ullman Family Scholarship was established by Corky and Steve's parents, Joy and George Ullman Sr.

When a friend donated $10,000 in celebration of George Sr.'s 60th birthday, George and Joy decided to use the funds to establish the scholarship. For a number of years, the fund was bolstered by proceeds from the annual George Ullman Memorial Golf Tournament, established by the family after the elder Ullman's death. Though the tournament no longer exists, the scholarship’s endowment continues to grow, helping support students who otherwise would not be able to pay for their education.

As one of several new athletic arenas on the 80-acre site north of Olsen Road, the Ullman Stadium is a complement to the George "Sparky" Anderson Field which was dedicated in 2006. Other venues include the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center (dedicated in October), Samuelson Aquatics Center (to be dedicated on March 24), soccer and track and field sites, practice fields, and on-site parking.

The Ullman brothers own and manage Grant Parking Inc., a diversified portfolio of business enterprises including Ullman Bros. Land and Cattle Company and Ullman Partners LLC. Corky Ullman serves as a member of the CLU Board of Regents.
