Community Leaders Name William E. Hamm Award Recipient

Ed Holt of Thousand Oaks has been selected as the recipient of the William E. Hamm Outstanding Service Award by the CLU Community Leaders Association. The award, which is presented annually to a member who has shown exemplary service, was presented to Holt on Feb. 2 during the Community Leader's annual membership brunch.

Holt, an active member of the CLU Community Leaders Association, is chair of the California Lutheran University Education Fund, director and treasurer of Tres Condados Girl Scout Council, a trustee of the National Military Order of the World Wars, board member of University Club in Santa Barbara, a mentor to graduating students of Duke University and Harvard Graduate Program, and president of the executive committee for the Children's Bureau of Southern California Invitational Golf Tournament.

He has served in leadership positions for organizations and events in Thousand Oaks and throughout the county. Along with his support of CLU endeavors, he has supported numerous youth organizations, serving as a youth sports coach of the Conejo Youth Basketball Association, as a board member of the Thousand Oaks High School Hoopsters Club, as President of the Sherman Oaks Little League and a volunteer for the United Way of Santa Barbara.

The William E Hamm Award is named in honor of a former CLU vice president who contributed to the development of the University and to the betterment of the Conejo Valley community.

Founded in 1963 as the Community Leaders Club, the organization was de eloped to stimulate the interest of the community in the athletic and cultural programs of CLU. Last year the organization adopted the name CLU Community Leaders Association to better reflect its mission, membership and contributions to the scholastic, cultural and athletic achievements of CLU. Members became involved in a variety of activities, including social and academic programs and fund–raising efforts. Since its founding, the organization has provided more the $1 million to enhance academic programs and facilities.
