HIV/AIDS exhibit at CLU

Display includes mural and activism memorabilia

An HIV/AIDS exhibit at California Lutheran University will feature a 24-foot mural and a collection of activism memorabilia.

The exhibit will run from Saturday, Dec. 1, through Saturday, Dec. 15, in Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture. An opening reception will be held at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, as part of the county’s World AIDS Day commemoration at CLU.

Christophe Cassidy of Culver City is creating a mural for the gallery that will be unveiled for the show. The French-born artist has painted murals in private homes, restaurants and offices throughout the United States and Spain. He has also illustrated books, created paintings for films and music videos, and worked as an art director.

The exhibit will also include AIDS activism memorabilia collected by Craig Webb during the last 20 years. Webb is the Director of HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention for Ventura County Public Health.

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. CLU is located at 60 W. Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks.
