(THOUSAND OAKS, CA – April 14, 2008) The Kingsmen Shakespeare Educational Tour is completing its 10th annual visit to elementary and middle schools.

The tour will end at Westlake Elementary School on Wednesday, April 23, which is the 444th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s birth. The troupe will also visit Westlake Hills Elementary on Tuesday, April 15, and Glenwood Elementary in Thousand Oaks on Wednesday, April 16.

The tour began March 10 and includes stops at a total of 17 elementary and middle schools in Fillmore, Thousand Oaks, Ventura and Westlake. A company of six professional actor-teachers conducts a daylong set of workshops and performances at each school to introduce the Bard to young students. This year the actors are performing an edited version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company, a professional nonprofit theater organization, coordinates the tour. Michael McCambridge, a professor in California Lutheran University’s School of Education who specializes in dramatic teaching and learning through the arts, is the Educational Director for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company. Brett Elliot, a professional actor and educator, is directing this year’s Shakespeare Educational Tour.

Michael Arndt, a CLU theatre arts professor, is the artistic director of the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company. For more information, contact Arndt at (805) 493-3416 or arndt@callutheran.edu.
