(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – May 30, 2008) California Lutheran University’s 2008 Traditional Upward Bound Senior Graduation Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, in Samuelson Chapel.

The ceremony will recognize the achievements of the program’s 22 seniors. The graduates have enrolled at a total of 14 colleges including UC Berkeley, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and UCSB and are the recipients of prestigious scholarships.

Upward Bound is a college preparation program funded by the U.S. Department of Education for first-generation high school students from low-income families. The program provides tutoring, advisement, classes, college tours and parent workshops.

CLU’s Upward Bound programs, which also include Math/Science Upward Bound, have a 100 percent high school graduation rate and at least 85 percent of alumni graduate from a post-secondary education program.
