CLU Upward Bound Receives Work–Experience Grant

The Upward Bound Program at CLU has received a grant through the United States Department of Education to provide work experience opportunities for 30 low–income high school students during the program's five–week summer residential component. The grant is through the president's "No Child Left Behind" educational initiative.

Upward Bound will select students to participate in the work–experience program based on their eligibility for the free and reduced lunch program. These students are from low–income families who are in need of additional financial support. Each student will receive a $300 work stipend that will be paid through the federal grant plus a clothing stipend to purchase appropriate professional attire.

It is the goal of the CLU program to have its 30 students placed in various positions on campus during summer 2003. Each student can work six hours a week for five weeks, June 30–Aug. 1. The students will be available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30–4:30 p.m. If you are interested in having an Upward Bound student work in your office, please call x3351. We will be happy to meet with you to discuss the program in detail. Thank you for your support.
