CLU Announces Giant Strides in Now is the Time Campaign

Successes in California Lutheran University's Now is the Time campaign were publicly announced on March 13, bringing the dreams for new facilities closer to reality. President Luther S. Luedtke announced that the University has surpassed the $62 million mark in its $80 million fund–raising endeavor at the CLU Circle of Friends Dinner on March 13 in Beverly Hills.

The comprehensive campaign, the largest in the University's history, already has raised more than 77 percent toward its $80 million goal in current and future gifts.

The current gift total, Luedtke explained to more than 300 University supporters at the Beverly Hills Hotel, includes donations that were used to build the new Spies–Bornemann Center for Education and Technology, gifts toward the University's endowment and annual fund, and donations for the development of the long–awaited North Campus athletics facilities.

"This campaign serves as a profound statement that we are committed to making a major step forward in the development of CLU," said Luedtke. "Our vision for CLU puts it in an entirely new category in terms of maturation and the educational experience we can offer our students."

During the past three years, we have raised more money than ever in the history of CLU, explained Luedtke. He applauded the more than 13,000 donors, including current students, who are helping CLU reach its campaign goal.

The Honorable Michael Bradbury, former Ventura County District Attorney, served as Master of Ceremonies at the event which also honored Atlanta Falcons Coach Dan Reeves with the prestigious Landry Medal. David Murdock, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer for Dole Food Company, served as Honorary Co–Chair, and Mrs. Alicia Landry, the widow of Dallas Cowboys' Coach Tom Landry, was an honored guest.
