Your First Day
Your first day marks the start of an exciting new chapter — not just in your career, but in your connection to a community that values purpose, collaboration, and growth.
The below checklist guides you through key tasks to help you get set up for success. Keep this information handy and check items off as you go — you’re building the foundation for a strong start.
Required steps:
- Report to Your Department
● Meet with your manager and/or team to get settled.
● Review your work space and schedule for your first day. - Go to Campus Safety for Your Employee ID Card and Parking Permit
● Location: Campus Safety office (near the main campus entrance).
● What to Bring: Have your employee ID number or driver’s license ready (if you’re unsure of your employee ID number, please call Human Resources at 805-493-3185). Apply for your employee ID card and order your parking permit (required for on-campus parking) in advance.
● During Your Visit: Pick up your employee ID card and parking permit. - Visit Human Resources for I-9 Verification and Document Signing
● Location: Human Resources office (across from the Campus Safety office). If you are remote and not working on campus, verification will be conducted via a scheduled video call (see Verify I-9 Employment Eligibility for details).
● What to Bring: Original, unexpired documents from the I-9 Acceptable Documents List (photocopies not accepted).
● During Your Visit: Human Resources will finalize your employment eligibility and verify your employee ID. - Meet with Information Technology Services (ITS) to Set Up Your Devices
● Meet with ITS for computer setup and instructions.
● Ask about downloading the MyCLU Mobile App for quick campus access and updates. - Start Your Required Training Modules
● Cal Lutheran uses Vector Solutions for essential workplace training.
● To start: Log in to MyCLU and click the HR Training tile.
● Complete all assigned modules within your first 30 days. - Access Your PeopleAdmin Dashboard via MyCLU
Your PeopleAdmin dashboard helps you complete onboarding tasks, acknowledgments, and system access requests. This includes: time reporting instructions, IIPP/Workplace Violence Prevention training, Employee Handbook acknowledgment, and access to your position description.
How to access your onboarding tasks:
1. Log in to MyCLU.
2. Click on eMAP.
3. Select the three blue dots in the top-left corner of your screen.
4. Choose Employee Records to confirm all required forms are submitted.
How to access your position description:
1. Log in to MyCLU.
2. Select eMAP.
3. From the three blue dots menu, select Position Management.
4. Select Position Description on the orange bar.
5. Select Staff.
6. Find and click on your position title to view details. - Review the Employee Handbook and Policies
● Access the Employee Handbook through the Human Resources website.
● Complete all required policy reviews within your first 30 days. - RSVP for Orientation
● Watch for an email invitation to Staff Orientation and RSVP promptly to reserve your spot.
