Olga J. Belgum
Honorary Alumni
Olga Belgum has been an integral part of the CLU community for many years. At the time of her retirement in 1992, she was Executive Secretary to former President Jerry Miller and previously served as Executive Secretary and Office Manager in the Development Office. In 1993, Olga was honored with the University’s Distinguished Service Award.
A graduate of Luther College with Bachelor's degrees in philosophy and religion and minors in elementary education and American history, Olga came to Cal Lutheran in 1973 with her husband, Dr. Gerhard Belgum, who established the Center for Theological Study and served as Director and Professor of Religion. Olga assisted Dr. Belgum with his work and continued to maintain the center during an interim period following his death.
Olga and her family have been a driving force in the establishment of CLU’s first endowment chair, the Gerhard and Olga J. Belgum Chair in Lutheran Confessional Theology. She is the mother of five, all of whom attended CLU, and grandmother of three CLU alumni.
Over the years, Olga has been energetically involved in the service projects pioneered by the CLU Guild and Women’s League. Her gracious personality and sincere interest in the students, faculty and friends of the university have given her work a special sense of purpose and meaning.
