Founders Day Lecture: "Windows of Clarity and Intent"
Glass artist Mark Eric Gulsrud ’72
Glass artist Mark Eric Gulsrud ’72 will speak about his family, its relationship with Cal Lutheran and the special techniques used for the Samuelson Chapel stained-glass windows. He will share his thoughts about the chapel windows and present slides of related work.
A self-employed artist and designer who has worked primarily in architectural, cast and laminated glass for nearly four decades, Gulsrud graduated from Cal Lutheran with a bachelor’s degree in art. He completed an MFA in ceramics at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.
His outstanding talents have been recognized and honored by the Interfaith Forum on the Arts and Architecture, Modern Liturgy Magazine and the American Crafts Council. His works have been featured in The Christian Science Monitor, American Craft Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and The Stained Glass Quarterly, and can be found throughout the United States, British Columbia and Western Europe.
