Read2Write and Study Skills Summer Camp
The Read2Write and Study Skills Summer Camp is sponsored by California Reading & Literature Project at California Lutheran University and is designed for students entering grades 5-7.
In this enrichment camp, students will learn and practice practical and relevant LITERACY STRATEGIES designed to strengthen the reading/writing connection. This learning will lead to successful organized, structured writing. In addition, students will develop useful STUDY SKILLS to build success in all academic settings.
Students will learn:

- Time management and organizational skills
- Test-taking and note-taking skills
- Google Apps for Education
INFORMATIONAL READING:
- Annotation (for targeted writing tasks)
- Compare and Contrast (for argument and explanatory writing tasks)
EXPOSITORY/EXPLANATORY WRITING:
- Pre-Write Organizers
- Structural Sentence Starters
- Student Exemplars
STUDY SKILLS FOR READING & WRITING — (2 SESSIONS)

Art of Masters Creative Art Camp
The Art of Masters creative art camp is sponsored by California Reading & Literature Project at California Lutheran University. Both sessions are designed for students entering grades 4-6.
Students will:
- Explore the lives and artistic techniques of great art masters such as Claude Monet (Impressionism), Pablo Picasso (Cubism & Surrealism) & Georgia O'Keeffe (Modernism)
- Create 4 original pieces of art in the style of each master
- Explore the masters' techniques using the art mediums of chalk pastel, oil pastel, and watercolors
- Create an art portfolio containing their unique pieces of art to bring home on the last day of camp.

Dive Into Creative Writing Summer Camp
Dive Into Creative Writing Summer Camp is sponsored by California Reading & Literature Project at California Lutheran University. This writing camp is designed for students entering grades 4-6.
Students will:
- Have fun learning about the ocean and its marine life
- Sharpen their reading and writing skills
- Use art, creative writing, and bookmaking to demonstrate their learning
