Campus Hazing Transparency Report

Policy Statement Regarding Hazing

California Lutheran University is dedicated to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment for all members of our community. In line with this commitment, California Lutheran University maintains a zero-tolerance policy for hazing in all its forms. This policy is a cornerstone of our efforts to ensure our students’ safety and compliance with critical state and federal laws, including the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), and the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA).

California Lutheran University will also collect and publish statistics on hazing incidents in our Campus Hazing Transparency Report (CHTR). This report, updated at least twice per year and will be publicly available.  Please note that the first CHTR must be posted by December 2025.

Hazing statistics reported to campus security authorities or Campus Safety are also included in our Daily Crime Logs and Annual Security Reports. In accordance with FERPA, the CHTR does not include personally identifiable student information.

Any person may report conduct prohibited by this policy to the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students, the Athletics Director, Campus Safety, local law enforcement, and/or Residence Life and Student Conduct. Incidents involving students will be adjudicated following the student conduct process. A complaint about a staff member or faculty member may be made to Human Resources.
