The University Honors Program provides motivated, passionate, and engaged students with opportunities that will support the achievement of their intellectual goals.
The program emphasizes teaching excellence in small seminar-style classes that feature innovative, interdisciplinary subjects and offer a high degree of intellectual creativity. Honors students have numerous opportunities for interaction with faculty and a cohort of their peers through specialized coursework, focused academic advising, and peer mentoring.
The University Honors Program shines through its specialized coursework. It offered me a creative outlet to both take in new perspectives and share my own. I was able to make meaningful connections with students who, like myself, were curious, outspoken, and creative. I believe that my involvement in the program made me better prepared to become a well-rounded global citizen because of the way it pushed me beyond the scope of my major.

What really stands out to me in this program is how professors allow students to dive deeper and immerse themselves into topics and ideas that you might normally not come across in a regular class. UHP has heavily influenced and guided the way I think about things, receive information, as well as how I communicate my own ideas, which has really helped me in my desired career path.

The University Honors Program provided me with a community that helped me grow both personally and academically. It gave me a built-in network of students and faculty I could rely on for both intellectual development and personal support. I'm currently a fifth-year PhD candidate in Political Science at UC Irvine. My time at CLU and in UHP showed me how meaningful a vibrant academic community can be, and I would love to contribute to that kind of environment in my career.
