Effective stewardship demonstrates to donors that you value their individual support and see them as an integral part of your community, growing their loyalty and trust in your nonprofit over time. Securing donors’ long-term support is critical for your nonprofit to continually fund its mission-driven initiatives. This workshop will empower development professionals, nonprofit leaders, and board members to strengthen donor relationships through stewardship strategies.
Participants will learn how to turn stewardship theory into everyday practice, creating personalized, mission-driven experiences that deepen donor engagement year-round. The workshop emphasizes building trust through transparency, gratitude, and storytelling while showcasing meaningful engagement opportunities such as behind-the-scenes access, intimate gatherings, and customized communications that highlight donor impact. Attendees will hear about real-world examples to assist in enhance their own donor relations programs.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to craft a stewardship plan that fosters a culture of appreciation, improves donor retention, inspires greater giving, and contributes to long-term organizational success.
Faculty
Tarry Kang
Tarry Kang is Senior Director of Development for Student Affairs at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Since joining CSUN in 2021, she has advanced major initiatives including securing the Dickens Collection, a Max Factor Family Foundation grant for Bridge to the Future Scholars, and funding for the Library’s first Tataviam mural. With prior leadership roles at The Village Family Services, Ascencia, and MEND, Tarry brings deep nonprofit expertise and currently serves as President of AFP Greater San Fernando Valley.
Pamela Perkins-Dwyer
Pamela Perkins-Dwyer is a seasoned fundraising professional with decades of experience advancing principal and major gifts, capital campaigns, board relations, and strategic planning. She recently joined California State University, Northridge as Director of Development, following her tenure as Director of Major Gifts for the Los Angeles Master Chorale, a resident company of The Music Center in Los Angeles. Deeply committed to donor stewardship, Pamela is known for building meaningful relationships that inspire transformational philanthropic support. She serves on the AFP U.S. Foundation Board and is an active member of the AFP Greater San Fernando Valley Chapter. Pamela holds degrees from Boston University (MS) and Howard University (BA), and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
