High School Choir Festival

The Music Department at California Lutheran University is pleased to host our first ever Cal Lutheran High School Choir Festival. All high school programs from the area are invited to participate. 

About the Festival

• The festival will consist of a 40-minute performance/clinic session with Professor Franco Basili and a 40-minute campus tour.
• Optional activities include participation in the noontime concert in Samuelson Chapel, and lunch on campus for an extra fee. 
• All choirs are invited and encouraged to participate in the informal concert at noon. The CLU Choir will be opening the concert, and each choir may share one or two of its prepared pieces.
• Only three choirs will be admitted to the festival this year on a first-come, first-served basis.

Objectives of the Festival

• Allow students to experience a day in the life of a college student.
• Provide focused coaching and feedback from university faculty to help singers grow musically and technically.
• Offer student ensembles the opportunity to perform in the Samuelson Chapel and share their music skills in an informal, low-pressure setting with other students.
• Introduce students to our faculty, facilities, and scholarship opportunities at California Lutheran University.
• Highlight the fun, social, and confidence-building aspects of participating in a choral festival, inspiring students to continue their musical journey through college and beyond.
