After researching organizational models and conducting peer-institution polling, Cal Lutheran's President and senior leadership designed and implemented a robust structure to lead the university-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEIJ) vision and strategy.
The new Talent, Culture, and Diversity division explicitly integrates the three most important parts of the university’s identity—our Lutheran roots, our increasingly deep commitment to DEIJ, and our Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation.
The new Vice President not only serves as the Chief Diversity Officer, but also supervises the newly created division. This ensures that DEIJ is a critical component of Human Resources, Mission and Identity, and the overall culture of the university. This division also leads the "horizontal" DEIJ structure comprised of the DEIJ Core Team to ensure alignment across campus.
