After researching organizational models and conducting peer-institution polling, Cal Lutheran's president and senior leadership designed and implemented a robust structure to lead the university-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEIJ) vision and strategy.

The Division of Talent, Culture, and Diversity explicitly integrates the three most important parts of the university’s identity — our Lutheran roots, our increasingly deep commitment to DEIJ, and our Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation.

The Vice President not only serves as the Chief Diversity Officer, but also supervises the newly created division. This ensures that DEIJ is a critical component of Human Resources, Mission and Identity, and the overall culture of the university.
