CLU Orchestra Auditions
The CLU Orchestra is a wonderful opportunity that is open to students from all majors and varying musical levels. Beyond making great music together, orchestra members build friendships with students from across the university and perform an exciting variety of repertoire, including works with choir, full symphony orchestra, string orchestra, and featured soloists.
To join the orchestra, students audition during the first week of classes. The audition orchestral excerpts are accessed by QR code on the poster. Both new and returning students prepare the excerpts and perform scales. This year students may choose to perform a live audition on Monday, August 24 or submit a video audition via the google form by Friday, August 28. Audition results are typically announced by the end of the first week of classes, and rehearsals begin during the second week.
Rehearsals are held in Overton Hall on:
- Tuesday: 4:45–6:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 4:45–6:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 4:45–6:15 p.m.
We value every student's contribution to the ensemble and do our best to be flexible with CLU schedule conflicts such as a class, lab, or athletic commitments. If you anticipate a schedule conflict, please reach out to Dr. Thornton (bthornton@callutheran.edu) to see if something can be arranged.
