Academic Exploration: Natural Sciences
Discover Cal Lutheran
High school students and their parents/guardians are invited to an Academic Exploration on the natural sciences and research opportunities that await you at Cal Lutheran.
There’s a lot to discover at Cal Lutheran. Learn more about our community, connect with faculty and students, experience our campus and programs, and get answers to your questions about becoming a Cal Lutheran student.
Event schedule:
- 5 p.m.: Welcome and Cal Lutheran overview for students and families
- 5:30 p.m.: Concurrent student and parent sessions
- Students: Step into the exciting world of Exercise Science with a hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art Biomechanics Lab with professor Travis Peterson, PhD. Discover how scientists study human movement as you walk, run and jump across specialized force plates that measure the forces your body produces on the ground. Using real data and cutting-edge technology, you'll explore what drives movement, performance and athletic success. Learn how subtle changes in technique can improve speed, power, balance and efficiency while reducing the risk of injury. Whether you're interested in sports, fitness, rehabilitation or human performance, this interactive activity will give you a firsthand look at how exercise scientists turn movement into measurable results.
- Parents/guardians: In this session, you will hear directly from admissions counselors and faculty members and get your questions answered.
- 6:30 p.m.: Closing, networking and informal conversations with faculty and staff
Participants must register in advance for this unique experience. Participation is free, however, spaces are limited.
