Beginning Your Journey With Cal Lutheran

Day 1-30: Getting Oriented

Your first month at Cal Lutheran is focused on building a strong foundation.

During this time, you’ll complete essential onboarding requirements, become familiar with the university’s mission and culture, and begin forming connections with your supervisor, team, and colleagues across campus. These activities are designed to help you feel supported, confident, and well-prepared for success in your new role.

Checklist of goals:
  • Meet with your supervisor to review job duties, set expectations, discuss departmental priorities, identify short-term goals and establish your  training/performance plan.
  • Submit all outstanding new hire paperwork through PeopleAdmin.
  • Complete required compliance trainings in Vector Training (log in through MyCLU and select the HR Training tile), including Harassment, FERPA, Title IX, Wage and Hour, IIPP, and WPVPP (due within 30 days).
  • Attend your New Employee Orientation
  • Familiarize yourself with core systems, including MyCLU, eMAP (applicant tracking, position management, and onboarding system), and Self-Service (time entry, vacation management, tax forms, and wage statements).
  • Review policies and credentialing requirements on the Human Resources website.
  • Enroll in health and life benefits and complete your retirement planning session.
  • Explore resources for wellbeing, recreation, and employee perks.
  • Complete your New Hire Benefits Enrollment within the first 30 days (details provided by Human Resources).
