Austrian Consul General Speaks at UVTO with SOM Dean and Professors Present
On May 1, we collaborated with University Village Thousand Oaks (UVTO) to bring the Austrian Consul General for the Western United States, Dr. Michael Postl, to speak to UVTO residents. Dr. Postl spoke to a near full Catalina Hall at UVTO on the topic of "Are transatlantic relations between the US and Europe at a crossroad?". After his talk about the hottest topics of the day - tariffs, the war in the Ukraine, the rise of isolationism and populism, and others - from the perspective of current and historical relations between the US and Europe, the audience engaged in a lively Q&A with Dr. Postl. Prior to his position in the United States, Dr. Postl served as the Ambassador to Malaysia, Ambassador to Iran, Ambassador to Armenia, Georgia, and Uzbekistan. He is also a lecturer on constitutional and international law at several universities.
