Fireside Chat with Joel Silva
On October 22, we held our Fall Fireside Chat event. This time, we were able to welcome the newest member of our Dean's Executive Council, Mr. Joel Silva. Joel is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Vallarta Supermarkets, a growing chain of supermarkets that focuses on Hispanic foods. With more than 60 stores, Vallarta has experienced rapid growth over the last several years. Mr. Silva provided incredibly helpful insights into topics ranging from his personal career development to challenges in the retail business to the demands of being a CFO in a growing, family-owned business. Thanks go to all the students who attended and networked with Mr. Silva after the event, and especially to my student co-moderator that evening, Grace Bracamontes.
