School of Management Business School on Rails

On December 8, we held our inaugural Business School on Rails field experience. About 40 graduate and undergraduate students joined me, faculty members John Garcia, Geoffrey Plourde, and Setayesh Sattari as well as staff members Rosie Baker, Alejandra Castillo, and Pia Valtierra on an exciting day filled with company visit and camaraderie. Early in the morning, our group boarded a Metrolink train in Moorpark to Downtown Los Angeles. While on the train, students learned about Metrolink and public transportation in Los Angeles from the CEO of Metrolink, Darren Kettle. In Downtown LA we visited with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where students met with its CFO, Glen Briffa, then Bank of America for a meeting with Raul Anaya, the national President of Small Business Banking, and finally Deloitte, where students engaged in a conversation with senior partners Trent Brown and Shazia Moola. The students also enjoyed a short trip on Angels Flight and lunch at the Grand Central Market. Please enjoy some visual impressions from our trip.
